According to MedlinePlus, air pollution is a mixture of solid particles and gases in the air, such as car emissions, chemicals from factories, dust, pollen and mold spores. Ozone, a gas, is also major part of air pollution in urban areas. Smog is formed when ozone creates pollution. Moreover, some air pollutants may be poisonous. Some common causes of air pollution are solid and liquid particles and certain gases that are suspended in the air from car and truck exhaust, factories, dust, pollen, mold spores, and natural disasters such as volcanoes and wildfires.

The world needs to be aware about the air pollution that happening and take a step to reduce it. The negative effects are becoming more serious and deadly for our environment, and this type is detrimental to human life and wild animals. It contributes to climate change that puts ourselves into danger. Knowledge is power, and learning about pollution will help reduce the effects of change for the better.

Air pollution was brought upon by so many vehicles and factories and it releases the greenhouse gases on the atmosphere that add up the climate change by raising the earth’s temperature. Then that makes our place even more toxic to live in. Moreover, the combusting fossil fuel emissions and sunlight creates smog (heavier and darker smoke) known as the ground level ozone that makes the environment so hotter. Smog would also occur, and it irrates your eyes and throat, damaging the lungs because of too many factories and vehicles.

Air pollution can have a serious health impact on humans for they are exposed, and they experience very high levels of air pollutants, also difficulty in breathing problems which causes to lead asthma, and other lung and heart conditions, resulting to having greater risk to have heart attacks.

Here are a some tips, ways, or advices on avoiding air pollution:

  • Avoid purchasing excessive vehicles that would cause more pollution in the air
  • Avoid from burning of waste, leaves, and other materials that are harmful for the environment, for this act is already prohibited by Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000
  • Avoid smoking in both indoors and outdoors
  • Choose a cleaner commute, share a ride to work or use public transportation for better change
  • Refuell your car in the evening than in broad daylight, it would cause higher temperature in the environment
